[movies]Metroid - Time Attack by Jeff C. (aka Arc) - Jeff 'Arc' C.
[NB - this video was transferred from the Machinima collection, and uses different rules to the other speeds runs in this collection, including use of emulators and multiple save states.] Another example of the pre-history of machinima - players bragging about their impressive performances to other players. This roughly 17-minute run through the NES's Metroid demonstrates the fastest path through the game. Please note: These speedthroughs were played on an emulator, using game slow-down options a...

Speed run of Super Mario World done on xsnes9x Super Nintendo emulator for Xbox, does not count as official record for SMW. Author's comments: This run was extremely lucky in two areas, 1. That i didn't die by that stupid stump thing in the first castle. 2. That i didn't choke on that lame water level like i always do. [movies]Rygar (NES) - 21:07 (Europe version, emulated run) - Hans Olsson (aka. Walker Boh)
This timeattack is different from the other Rygar timeattack in that it plays all levels and doesn't use the boss-warp glitch. Unlike the previous versions of the full (ie. deathless) run, this one makes full use of all the bugs and glitches in the game which can be used to speed up the run. Note: Famtasia plays PAL games at NTSC speed, that is 16.7% too fast. Thus the AVI is significantly faster than the movie should actually be.

In this game you're an armor-clad knight with a big sword. You collect gems to bribe a red knight, kill evil beasts and rescue several "distressed damsels". Walker Boh completes the game shorter than anyone imagined, and discovered a few nice tricks / glitches...

Here's my Rad Gravity run. I must give thanks to Spoony Bard. Without his first version, I would never have been motivated enough to make this run. My general route is basically the same, but with lots of optimizations in each level. I discovered that the disk that allows you to fly isn't actually neccesary. This game is about a schoolgirl with a bag of holding and a rubber fishing line setting out to rid the world of giant mutant fish. This video plays the longest path of the game having only two bosses. The boss levels are quite long in this movie - they can't really be sped up, but the author of the movie has done his best to make it worth watching. No frogs were harmed in the making of this movie.

For more details, see http://tasvideos.org/201M.html This movie completes the PAL Rygar with only one item: the grappling hook. And what an awesome movie it is: it demonstrates as many glitches of the game as possible. Some of the glitches save time radically, some save a little of time, and some don't save time at all but just look cool. It uses death as a shortcut, but in contrary to the usual, this death does not put Rygar backwards in the game, but instead warps him forward by a couple of le...
